Ballast Point Invades House of Pizza!

I know, we’re a little giddy about this, so what. We really shouldn’t even be telling you about this since that means there will be more people there and it’ll take longer for us to get our next beer….

ballast-point-logo1One of our favorite local bar/restaurant managers is an avid craft beer geek, and also runs 15 lines at the House of Pizza in their downtown location, which are CONSTANTLY rotating. This guys name is Jason Finch and he introduced Becky and me to a little brewer out of San Diego, CA – Ballast Point. Well, maybe not so little, but relatively unknown to the Midwest until recently. If you’ve read any Top 10 lists (or Top 20, 50, or even 100) for IPA’s in the past two years, you’ll have seen a number of these tasty brews towards the top of those lists.

Jason has manged to  pull of a bot of magic and will be hosting a tap take over featuring 15 of Ballast Point’s best beers, along with a couple special additions. The take over will be starting on Wednesday, Sept 10th at 5:00 pm. You’ll want to get there early as we hear there’s glasses for the first 20 people in the door and lots of prizes/schwag to be given away throughout the night.

Here’s a list of what we can all expect to be salivating over next week at The House of Pizza:GrapefruitSculpin_Primary1

  • The Original Pale Ale
  • Calico Amber Ale
  • Big Eye IPA
  • Sculpin IPA
  • Grapefruit Sculpin IPA
  • Habanero Sculpin IPA
  • Grunion Pale Ale
  • Even Keel Session IPA
  • Dorado Double IPA
  • Victory at Sea Imperial Porter with Coffee and Vanilla (Limited)
  • Fathom Imperial Pale Lager (Limited)
  • Pumpkin Down Scottish Ale with Pumpkin (Limited)

Can ya see why we just might be a little excited?  We’ve had the pleasure of tasting many of these (thanks Jason) and are really pumped to give some of the more rare beers a try. Expect a future post with pics and hopefully a functioning spell check ;).

Here’s a link to the Facebook event for all of the details.
